ODE TO THE INVISIBLE

This video-documentation was made in 2004, from the performance “Ode to the invisible”.
The video shows a small tree at the edge of a forest. Its leaves removed one after another. When the tree is completely leafless,
it is painted white. The sound from leaves plucked off, is mixed with a background-sound from a slight breeze and whimpering dogs. The performance is quiet and melancholic and takes in its whole four hours.
It's a performance about making people in our closest surrounding visible. People who obviously are suffering under physical or mental pain and grief. It’s a critic against the egocentric idea of self- fulfilment and the individualistic society flourishing in our times, which seems to make us incapable to take notice of these people, letting them wither away and forgetting them.
